A quick look at the local history, achievements, and activities of the members of Pi.

Pi Chapter at The University of Montana

The Pi Chapter of Delta Gamma was officially chartered on September 7th, 1911 with a statement from Delta Gamma executive, Pearl McDonald: “We have an opportunity to start a chapter with an unusually fine group of girls...” The University was just 15 years old at the time, and Greek Life had only just begun to take its hold. The chapter moved into a house on University Avenue in 1914. The first recruitment at Delta Gamma was “… beyond our wildest expectations; we pledged eighteen lovely girls, the cream of the crop!” In 1925, Pi chapter moved into 516 University Avenue, located just a block away from campus, and became our home for University of Montana DeeGees!  To date, the chapter has initiated 2,031 women, and each, with her unique talents and leadership qualities, has had a hand in continuing Delta Gamma Pi Chapter’s long-standing tradition of excellence and sisterhood.

Most of our members are involved in a multiple outside activites, including the Honors College, that keep us busy all year round! Senior Jeni Comstock is a tap and OULA dance-workout instructor; senior Sarah Hopkins is vice president of the political science honors society on campus; senior Corinne Zylstra and junior Kelsey Hansen are Young Life leaders; and sophomore Megan Harbaugh is in choir. Many of our members also study abroad. Seniors Tessa Paulson and Taylor King are members of an organization called Global Grizzlies where they provided medical relief in Nepal this summer; juniors Kristy Harty-Connell and Kristin Lipe took a literature and neuroscience course in Dublin, Ireland; and senior Joudryn Aiken is studying in Spain!
